20 years ago I began to do customs in more than a hobby capacity and started a dedicated website. It was simple siet and free from my cable provider but I wanted to make a move from posting in forums to showcasing my work in one place. Over the years I have taken many attempts at redesigning Star Wars. The first kept all the elements and the subsequent 20 lines have all taken 1 era and genre and redesigned the film in the singular aesthetic. This was not something that was really being done but it was just something that spoke to what I wanted in a hobby. As I looked back at those 20 years and over 800 custom figures I wanted to do something special and I came upon the idea of book-ending those 20 years with a 2nd attempt at my first crack at re-visioning. I boiled every character down to a few adjectives like space/cowboy or samurai/Nazi to get to the core of the feeling I wanted to try to capture. This is that line and I think it is my favorite to this date. I wanted a title that would show the level of my ambition and the hopes I held for the line.
C.E.C.I.L. 3000
Designed to capture the more elegant and and Art Deco elements of a retro robot.
RAND 2D
Designed to be short and bit clunky with elements of a couple classic 1950’s TV robots.
LASH STARWARRIOR
Designed to capture the youth of the protagonist with the feeling of a Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon Sci Fi Serial.
SIR ORION KENTANABE
I wanted the look of a elegant warrior from a more civilized age that had the feeling of an exotic Asian vibe.
CAPTAIN HAWK SOLAR
His look was part space pilot/astronaut and part cowboy/pirate.
CH’AW BOK’LAR
He was pretty straight forward. Big, harry, & alien.
PRINCESS OGANATA
I wanted her to feel exotic and elegant. I also wanted the line to have a cohesive feeling. Many of the designs work in subtle Asian elements. So I combined those elements, with a bit of fairy tale princess, and Sci Fi serial royalty.
BORAN VETT
Usually the bounty hunter is the first figure I make but this one took a while to crack. He needed look futuristic but also from an older time. I wanted him to have elements of a wild west bounty hunter but I did not want him to be a cowboy.
STURM INFANTY
I wanted the look of a space soldier with a WW2 aesthetic. He a was the last figure I created in the line but I love how he turned out.
REICHGUN DAKU VÄTER
This was was a great figure. I love the way he came together. I wanted to fuse the elements of a Nazi officer with those of a Japanese samurai and give it all a technological update.
