Be sure to stop by our booth 3702 on the main show room floor.  You can build a Death Star tile that will be yours to keep after the show, race a Star Wars Hot Wheel down our custom Death Star trench, and sign up for free classes on customizing and sculpting.  I will be there to guide you and give you some tips.  You will be able to take apart and reassemble figures as well as get your hands on some Smooth On sculpting product to add your own details and even learn some paint techniques.  You just need to sign up at the booth and bring a few 3.75″ star wars figures to customize and share.

See you in Orlando April 13-16.

Celebration Orlando 2017

C8_HotWheels TRENCH_LogoZ

I am thrilled to announce that we will be back at Star Wars Celebration hosting another diorama workshop.  It will be held from April 13–16, 2017, at Orlando, Florida’s Orange County Convention Center.   We have been at every Celebration since C2 back in 2002 – that is 15 years ago.  I think we have to be one of the largest and longest running events at the Celebrations.

We have partnered with Hot Wheels this time and are trying something new. Rather than our usual builds of dioramas with scenes from the movies and action figures, this time we will be helping guests make their own custom tile of the Death Star’s surface.  All the pieces will go together to make a massive piece of the Death Star complete with a trench where participants will be able to race their Star Wars Hot Wheels down the trench.

I will be back as well hosting my daily classes on customizing and sculpting figures.  Interested attendees can sign up each day, just bring a few Star Wars action figures to use for parts.  If you want to bring by some donations that would be great as well.

There will also be prized given away using a plinko board with generous donations from Jett’s Toy Hutt

If you want to see more about our past builds and my previous workshops you can check them out here:

Bounty Hunters – 2nd drafts

Most of my creations are experiments to find out what the desired combination will indeed look like.  Occasionally I go back and do a 2nd draft of a figure.  The results are always impressive and vastly better than their first incarnation.  I generally go back and redo the Bounty Hunter archetype first, as he is one of my favorites and often where each line starts

Mr. Cheezy Pop (Max Glick)

My daughter and I love to go through our YouTube subscriptions when she gets home from school.  One of her absolute favorites is Max Glick / Mr. Cheezy Pop.  He has a great Disney themed channel you can check it out HERE.  I recently worked out an exchange with him as a surprise for her birthday.  For my end I made him a custom Funko Pop style figure of himself.  Here is the figure.

Here is a video where he talks about the figure.

Storyteller wraps production!

Recently I was lucky enough to serve as the Art Department Director/Production designer on an indie film called “The Storyteller”.  It was a real pleasure and it was a great experience being able to push my artistic chops in such new directions.  I made many movies over the years and done hundreds of pieces and props but it was very fulfilling to be in charge of a department and to create the entire look of a film.  In addition to crafting the look of the film I also helped find locations and made a the bulk of the films props.   I met some amazing people and learned so much.  I will always cherish the experience.  Here are a few photos from the set showcasing my contributions.
